A member of the Sadrist movement, Essam Hussein, confirmed, on Tuesday, that there is an upcoming meeting between Muqtada al-Sadr and the leader of the wisdom movement Ammar al-Hakim, noting that the meeting will address the repercussions of the elections and preparations for forming the next government.
Hussein said in a statement to NRT Arabiya, (October 19, 2021), that "there are understandings that will occur between the current and all the other political blocs, and these understandings are related to preparing for the formation of the next government."
He added, "The Wisdom Movement is currently within the coordination framework that includes a number of political parties rejecting the results of the elections, but this does not prevent them from delving into matters related to expediting the formation of the government, especially after the Commission announced the consideration of the appeals submitted by the political parties that lost in the elections." .
Hussein continued, "The Sadrist movement is also close to the independents, and we expect them to vote in parliament for the current's candidate," noting that "the movement is about to focus on choosing a candidate to head the government who has acceptance from civil forces in addition to other political parties."
He explained, "We do not want to repeat the experiences of previous years by choosing a consensual figure who is approved by the Shiite forces only, but we want the candidate to head the next government to have a national saying."
