The Ministry of Commerce confirmed, on Wednesday, that the food baskets that it began distributing to citizens have become an alternative system to the ration card, while it indicated that the third meal of the food basket has been completed, and it is now in the process of preparing the fourth meal.
The ministry’s spokesman, Muhammad Hanoun, said in an interview with local agencies, “The ministry is serious about constantly preparing food baskets and distributing them to citizens,” noting that “the company investing in this system has contracted to buy large quantities of rice, sugar, and many other materials.”
Hannoun indicated that "after securing the materials, the fourth meal of the food basket will be launched," noting that "the ministry submitted a request to the government related to increasing foodstuffs and the continuation of food baskets throughout the year, in the draft budget for 2022."
