    [size=45] Food and beverage company PepsiCo and the United Nations World Food Program (WFP) unveiled a new partnership on Thursday to support farmers in Iraq affected by conflict and climate change and help build a more sustainable agricultural supply chain in the region.[/size]
    [size=45]According to the statement of the World Food Program that was published on their official website and translated (Baghdad Today), "this partnership supports the government of Iraq to achieve its goal of eradicating hunger as part of the United Nations sustainable development goals."[/size]
    [size=45]The statement added, "A $250,000 grant from the PepsiCo Foundation, the philanthropic arm of PepsiCo, will enable the World Food Program to expand its ongoing program, Food Assistance for Assets, to build resilience in Iraq, which strives to help rural communities to Being self-reliant, enduring and facing challenges such as climate change, the program has won the support of senior government officials in Iraq and the US-Iraq Business Council.[/size]
    [size=45]He continued, "The cooperation will enable Iraqi small farmers to establish reliable market linkages, obtain much-needed financing, increase crop quality, and advance towards internationally recognized food and safety standards for sustainable agriculture."[/size]
    [size=45]"Through the PepsiCo Foundation's support, WFP will provide farmers with training and technical expertise, and will share best agricultural practices, such as targeted use of irrigation and fertilizers," he said. PepsiCo will buy potatoes from farmers to use in food production, which helps build farmers’ livelihoods.”[/size]
    [size=45]Vice President for Corporate Affairs, Wael Ismail, said: “We are honored to cooperate with the World Food Program to help support the agricultural sector in Iraq and build sustainable livelihoods, while contributing to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, with a focus on eliminating hunger and a better and more sustainable future for all.” .[/size]
