    {Political: Al Furat News} The Secretary-General of the United Iraq Party, Osama Al-Nujaifi, called for holding parliamentary elections within two years after amending the current election law.
    A statement by his office said that Al-Furat News Agency received a copy of it that Al-Nujaifi "received today, Thursday, the Kuwaiti ambassador to Iraq, Salem Ghasab Al-Zamanan, and they discussed during the meeting a set of files, most notably the political situation in Iraq in the wake of the elections, and political developments in the Gulf region in preparation for the upcoming summit, as well as on bilateral relations.
    Al-Nujaifi presented during the meeting, according to the statement, "his general assessment of the elections, expressing his observations on the law and the way districts are distributed, and the subsequent procedures and violations that weakened the citizen's confidence in the results achieved, as well as the reluctance of large sectors of society to participate in the elections."
    Mr. Al-Nujaifi stressed that "it is important to overcome the closure in the political process that we adopt the truce, form a coalition government and agree to hold elections within two years after amending the electoral law, guided by the observations made by the implementation process, and it is essential to work on gaining the confidence of the people to contribute to increasing the participation rate so that it is The results express the will of the people.
    For his part, he affirmed the Kuwaiti ambassador's presentation of his government's efforts and role in converging views between the Gulf countries and the countries of the region, while presenting the overall developments that indicate a positive understanding of the conditions of these countries and the challenges they face.
