Today, Friday, the head of the National State Forces Alliance, Mr. Ammar al-Hakim, called for the holding of provincial council elections according to a "fair electoral law."
In his public speech on the occasion of the Iraqi Martyr's Day in Najaf in front of the crowds of the National Wisdom Movement, Mr. Al-Hakim said: "The need for sound and correct preparation for conducting the provincial elections in terms of approving a fair law and executive procedures that guarantee fair and transparent elections."
He called on "the executive and legislative authorities to think seriously about the possibility of returning municipal councils with correct mechanisms that benefit from yesterday's mistakes and do not burden the state."
