An informed political source revealed, on Wednesday, that a meeting will be held within the next two days for members of the Political Bureau of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan to discuss choosing an alternative candidate for the presidency.
The source said in a statement to "Al-Maalouma", that "after the arrival of a categorical rejection letter from the Democratic Party and its leader, Massoud Barzani, regarding the National Union candidate, Barham Salih, the party will meet to discuss choosing the alternative."
He added that "the National Union realizes the difficulty of passing its candidate through Parliament in light of the failure to reach an agreement with the Democratic Party, so it will choose another candidate who is more acceptable to the Kurds."
The veteran Kurdish politician, Mahmoud Othman, had confirmed in a previous statement to Al-Maalouma that the fact that the Kurds had more than one candidate for the presidency of the republic was an unhealthy condition. finished/25
