The caretaker prime minister, Mustafa Al-Kazemi, directed, on Sunday, an immediate investigation after the recent wave of assassinations in Maysan Governorate, indicating that the state will not stand idly by before the hands of treachery and drug dealers.
Al-Kazemi said in a statement, “Al-Maalouma” agency received a copy of it, that “Maysan Governorate has recently witnessed a recurrence of organized criminal operations, the latest of which are the two crimes of the assassination of the martyred judge Ahmed Faisal, and the assassination of the officer in the Ministry of Interior, the martyr Hussam Al-Alawi, as well as the crimes of drug trafficking and some armed clan conflicts. “.
He added, "The authority of the state and the rule of law will not stand still in the face of these heinous crimes that threaten peace and stability, and our security forces of all kinds will spare no effort to impose the word of law and bring criminals to justice."
And he added, "We directed the opening of an immediate investigation into the recent assassinations, the accountability of the negligent and those proven to have neglected their duties or their failure to implement arrest warrants, and to review the security procedures and contexts that follow the movement of criminals and suspects."
Al-Kazemi indicated that “a delegation that includes the Minister of Interior, the Chief of Staff of the Army and the Deputy Commander of Joint Operations has arrived to follow-up and direct supervision of the investigation, to submit a report on the security situation in Maysan Governorate, and to evaluate the procedures and performance of security leaders as soon as possible.” End / 25 D
