Today, Saturday, the Governor of the Central Bank, Mustafa Ghaleb, pledged to hold banks that do not comply with controls and manipulate the exchange rates of the dollar accountable.
A statement by Al-Zamili's office, a copy of which was received by Al-Nour News, stated that during the hosting, many inquiries, questions and proposals were raised by members of the House of Representatives to the Governor of the Central Bank.
The First Deputy instructed, to form a parliamentary committee to investigate the facts, gather information and follow up on the work of the Central Bank, calling on the government to address the negatives resulting from the change in the exchange rate and the rise in market prices.
He stressed that the House of Representatives will take all necessary measures if the government is unable to do so and will be obligated to use its constitutional powers to treat the effects of this issue.
For his part, the Governor of the Central Bank clarified the monetary policy of the bank and the reasons that prompted to raise the exchange rate of the dollar, pledging to hold to account the banks outside the controls and manipulating exchange rates.
Al-Zamili called on the Central Bank’s administration to provide the House of Representatives with data, information and periodic reports on currency sale auctions, and to work on evaluating the banking policy in the country.
