On Friday, the head of the Popular Mobilization Authority, Faleh al-Fayyad, expressed his position on the deadline set by the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, for the coordination framework for forming the next government, while noting that the factions had presented conditions for handing over their weapons to the Popular Mobilization Authority.
Al-Fayyad said in a televised interview that "the next government must overcome the difficult stage," adding, "The next government (from one side) will not be able to bring about changes in the Iraqi situation."
Al-Fayyad added that "the government formed by the tripartite alliance is difficult to succeed."
He added that "the heavy load in the current situation requires the presence of the Sadrist movement in the next scene."
Al-Fayyadh stated that "the accounts of the leader of the Sadrist movement wanted to reverse the scene, to put the ball in the court of the framework for the formation of the government, and this is political cunning."
Al-Fayyad added that "Al-Sadr vowed a heavy oath that he would go to the opposition and that he would give the next government a one-year deadline, if the Sadrists resorted to the opposition's option," noting, "We hope that everything will happen except chaos."
Al-Fayyadh said that "the largest bloc should be formed in the presence of the framework forces," noting that "the democracy, sovereignty and the Sadrist movement declared themselves the largest bloc and presented their candidates for the presidency and ministers, and this regarding the framework is rejected."
Al-Fayyad added that "the largest bloc is determined after the election of the President of the Republic, according to the interpretations of the Federal Court."
Regarding the factions’ weapons, Al-Fayyadh stated, “Al-Sadr stipulated that the factions’ weapons be handed over to the Popular Mobilization Authority within months, and in principle, this proposal was approved.”
Al-Fayyad added that "the factions stipulated the formation of a new government, and the withdrawal of US forces in return for handing over their weapons."
He added, "I rule out resorting to internal fighting, as the various political parties have sufficient awareness."
Al-Fayyad stressed that "the popular crowd is far from the political debate."
He pointed out that "the factions that give themselves the right to resist, have nothing to do with the government or the commission."
He continued, "The Coordinating Body of the Resistance Factions is a moral body that declares itself and adopts certain operations," adding that "there is no overlap between the crowd and these factions, and there may be individual contributions by crowd, security, or even judicial elements, which is a matter."
He stressed that "the Popular Mobilization Authority issued statements on more than one occasion in which it denied its connection to any operation carried out by the factions.
