Informed political sources revealed, on Friday, the failure of the Al-Halbousi coalition to pressure the change of the new commander of Diyala operations.

And the sources added, “Some of the representatives of Taqaddam have openly announced in recent meetings that their pressure is coming in order for the position to remain defined by a figure from the Sunni component, as has been the case over the past years, which sparked a wave of popular criticism about the necessity of keeping the security establishment away from the sectarian and national quota, and that it should be a framework of expertise. Efficiency is the path that is adopted in the selection of security leaders.”
He pointed out that "Omran's success in adopting security plans contributed to reducing violations to good levels that put pressure on the Progress Alliance and prompted them to reduce their pressures regarding its recent change, pointing out that the Al-Halbousi coalition failed again in Diyala to press for security changes."
The former commander of Diyala operations was relieved of his position, and Major General Ali Fadel Omran was appointed as the new commander of the Operations Department
