Representative Alia Nassif renewed her demand for the presidency of the House of Representatives to legislate the slums law that has been postponed since the previous parliamentary session, stressing the importance of finding a radical solution to prevent the displacement of thousands of families residing in the overrun homes.
Nassif said in a statement today: "We have previously issued dozens of statements and press statements asking the executive authorities to stop expelling poor families from slums. The issue is more complicated and cannot be resolved by expelling and displacing these people. They looted public money and smuggled it abroad, so why do these poor people pay the price for the corruption that permeates the joints of the state?! .
Nassif indicated: “The radical solution lies in the legislation of the slums law that has been on the shelves since the previous session, where the government sent a draft law at that time, and we, in turn, wrote a proposal for a law, and the government insisted on passing its legislation, but we resorted to a compromise solution that includes merging the two laws into one law and keeping The positive points from both of them, and it was read first and second reading, but it was not voted on, and it is more appropriate for the Presidency of Parliament today to take the initiative and put a solution to this intractable problem by passing this law.”
