The population of Iraq will reach 40 million in 2020
The population of Iraq is expected to reach 51 million people in 2030
The size of the workforce in Iraq in 2020 is about 11 million people
It is expected that the total workforce in Iraq will reach 16 million people in 2030.
5 million new people will enter the labor market in Iraq during the period 2020-2030
The number of employees on permanent staff reached 1.047 million in 2004
The number of employees on permanent staff increased to 3.263 million in 2021
The number of workers on permanent staff increased more than three times during the period 2004-2021,
Allocations of employee salaries to permanent owners = 53 trillion dinars in 2021
The overall youth unemployment rate (15-24 years) is about 22.7%.
Young people are demanding, protesting and demonstrating to obtain decent job opportunities for them, and this is their right, and the Iraqi state is unable to do so because basically there is no real economic process in Iraq that produces goods and services and provides job opportunities. Therefore, the expansion in the number of workers and the creation of new jobs was not accompanied by a real expansion in the production and service capacities of the public sector And government departments. The state was supposed to have a clear program to modernize the public sector and establish some strategic projects that provide work in order to diversify the Iraqi economy and move it from a rentier economy to a productive economy in conjunction with the adoption of a package of measures supporting the national private sector. And because that did not happen, the political class will face in the coming years a very difficult task, which is to provide 5 million job opportunities until 2030, either by employing them in state agencies or by diversifying the economy and creating sustainable job opportunities. Otherwise, it will face a deep crisis in the face of the crowds of the unemployed. If it is not tamed by providing jobs, it will undermine the current political system
