The leader  [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] called on  Sunday for the expansion and continuation of the demonstrations and for broad support for the protesters camped in the corridors of the Iraqi parliament, without showing any indication of retreat in light of the escalation  [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] .
For the second time in less than a week, thousands of supporters of Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr stormed  [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] , expressing their objection to the candidate of al-Sadr's opponents for prime minister.
The Minister of the Sadrist movement, Salih Muhammad al-Iraqi, warned of those infiltrated among the demonstrators and called for reporting them and rejecting acts of violence and bloodshed, calling on the Iraqi security forces to be vigilant.
Early Monday, the media reported an intense security deployment of Iraqi army forces in the streets of the capital, Baghdad.
"Golden Chance"
In his first comment, the leader of the Sadrist movement described the protests as "the spontaneous, peaceful revolution that liberated the Green Zone as a first stage," considering it a "golden opportunity for all of the people stung by the fire of injustice, terrorism, corruption, occupation and dependency."
Al-Sadr stressed in a tweet that the protests are "a great opportunity to fundamentally change the political system, the constitution, and the elections," adding, "Whoever hears the reform awareness and does not support it, he will be a prisoner of violence, militias, kidnapping, covetousness, intimidation, marginalization, humiliation and the erasure of dignity."
He called on "everyone to support the revolutionaries for reform, including our proud clans, our heroic security forces and members of the Mujahid Popular Mobilization Forces."
After al-Sadr's tweet,  [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]  that includes Shiite blocs, most notably the rule of law led by former Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki and the Fatah bloc representing the pro-Iranian Popular Mobilization factions, renewed his call for dialogue.
He said in a statement that the framework "continues to call for dialogue with all political forces, especially the brothers (in) the Sadrist movement," but called on its supporters to gather today, Monday, in the vicinity of the Green Zone.
Ban the use of lead
A statement from the Iraqi Prime Minister's office, Mustafa Al-Kazemi, stated that it was forbidden to use live and rubber bullets and smoke bombs against the demonstrators.
He also stressed that the security services must secure the demonstration grounds not to carry weapons, and protect government headquarters and infrastructure.
serving the people
For its part, the Iraqi Ministry of Defense confirmed that the army forces are in the service of the people and the duty of the security forces to protect demonstrators and public and private property.
And the ministry stated in a statement today, Monday, “A number of social media sites reported news of the 11th Infantry Division commander’s announcement of his standing with the demonstrators.
And she stressed that "the duty of the security forces is to protect the demonstrators, protect public and private property, prevent any security breach and tighten the noose around the intruders who try to destabilize security by exploiting the circumstances," according to the Iraqi News Agency.
The Iraqi Security Media Cell said that the security and military services have proven their loyalty to Iraq in all circumstances, noting that the security and military agencies do not interfere in political affairs.
She stressed that the duty of the security forces is to prevent security breaches and to tighten the noose around the intruders.
The country has been in complete political paralysis since the early legislative elections in October 2021, with endless negotiations and skirmishes between the major parties that have so far been unable to agree on the election of a president and the appointment of a new prime minister.
The Sadrist movement, which has the largest number of deputies, 329, wanted to choose the prime minister and form a majority government in alliance with Sunni and Kurdish parties, but it was unable to do so because it did not achieve the necessary majority in Parliament.
Barzani's initiative
Following the Sadrist movement's demonstrations on Saturday, calls for calm and dialogue continued from the various Iraqi political parties.
The President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, launched an initiative for dialogue between the political parties, calling on them in a statement on Sunday to "come to Erbil ... and start an open and inclusive dialogue to reach an understanding and agreement based on the country's higher interests."
