A member of the Victory Alliance reported that there is a proposal and collection of signatures to hold a session of the Iraqi parliament, whether in the capital, Baghdad or elsewhere, noting that this proposal faces opposition from parties within the coordination framework.
Hassan Al-Bahadli said that “there is a proposal to hold a session of the House of Representatives, and the signatures of about 170 deputies have been collected in this regard,” noting that “parties within the coordination framework presented the proposal in line with the constitution and the law, but there is opposition within the framework to that.”
Since the 30th of last July, the followers of the Sadrist movement have continued their sit-in inside the Green Zone and in front of the Iraqi Parliament building, rejecting the nomination of Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani for the position of prime minister by the coordination framework, and demanding the dissolution of the House of Representatives and going to early elections, at a time when the differences between the forces continue. The political situation that prevents the formation of a new government, despite the passage of more than ten months since the last elections on October 10, 2021.
Al-Bahadli believed that the other party, in reference to the Sadrist movement, "is the root of the problem," pointing out that there is a negotiating move to hold a session of the House of Representatives, whether in Baghdad or elsewhere.
A member of the Victory Alliance, indicated that “there is a proposal to form a delegation by a third party, to pass the stalled electoral benefits, the presidency of the republic and the presidency of the government, and then start negotiations to find solutions to the basic problems that are discussed, provided that the problems of the constitution are transferred to the next government and to the next elections.” Pointing out that "there are controversial issues on the basis of the election law, the commission and the prime minister."
Al-Bahadli noted that “the Sadrist movement wants to keep the current government, the same election law and the same commission, while the coordination framework sees that the commission and the law caused a problem, and the proposal to keep Al-Kazemi is tantamount to nothing new happening,” noting “the possibility of offering two solutions, with the aim of solving the current crisis.” Through the intervention of an external mediator party,” without referring to the identification of this external party.
