The leader of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Ghiath Surji, expected today, Saturday, to postpone the elections of the Kurdistan Region Parliament for another year.
In an exclusive interview with Mawazine News, Surji said that "the elections were scheduled to take place on the first of next October, but the date was postponed."
He added, "We expect to delay holding the elections for a year, and the reason for that is the differences between all parties over the election mechanism and related issues."
He pointed out that "most parties agree with the opinion of the Union in this regard," noting that the main differences over amending the electoral law and quotas for political minorities, as well as reconsidering and organizing the voter register. Ended 29/M99
