    Baghdad today - Baghdad 
    The President of the Republic, Abdel Latif Gamal Rashid, confirmed today, Friday (May 3, 2024), that the region is witnessing dangerous developments that would threaten peace in it and in the world.
    Rashid said in a speech during the celebration of the 21st anniversary of the founding of the Asaib Ahl al-Haq movement and was followed by “Baghdad Today”: “We have overcome terrorism thanks to the steadfastness of our security forces and the determination of our people, and today we stand at a new stage in building Iraq and compensating for what we missed. Success in achieving what our people want alone expresses “Our loyalty and appreciation for the great sacrifices.”
    He added: "We are in a historical circumstance that requires political forces to give priority to the higher interests of the country and the people, and the importance of respecting the constitution and state institutions and fighting corruption in all its forms to consolidate security, stability and the democratic experience."
    He stressed, "The region is witnessing dangerous developments that could threaten peace in it and in the world, and at its heart is the great suffering experienced by our brothers, the Palestinian people, as they face the crimes of the occupation."
    He pointed out that "we must all support the measures and plans adopted by the government to advance the service situation and look responsibly at future projects and economic, agricultural and industrial development programmes."
    He continued: "Our country's role in the regional and international environment is strengthening, and this requires us, as authorities and political forces, to appreciate the importance of this historical circumstance, and to focus our efforts on putting our country in the position it deserves in its international relations based on taking into account common interests and respecting sovereignty and independence."
