The President of Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, called on Thursday for the new Iraqi government to provide services and provide job opportunities to the regions of southern and central Iraq, build Sunni areas that were destroyed, and implement Article 140 of the Constitution.
Nechirvan Barzani said in his speech during the 14th Congress of the Kurdistan Democratic Party in Dohuk, "I wish success to President Barzani and all of you and our party conference," stressing that "the success of the conference is a victory for all the people of Kurdistan."
The President of the Kurdistan Region called on the government of Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani to "provide services and provide job opportunities to the regions of southern and central Iraq, as well as building the Sunni areas that were destroyed, implementing Article 140 of the constitution and normalizing the situation in them."
He also demanded from Al-Sudani "not to allow the legitimate rights of the people of Kurdistan to be infringed," stressing that "the conditions of Iraq will improve by preserving the rights of all components."
He stressed that "all political forces in Iraq must start opening a new page with the Sadrist movement," stressing that "Al-Sadr is a great popular force in Iraq."
He pointed out that "the application of federalism in Iraq will preserve the unity, stability and sovereignty of the country," adding that "its application is in the interest of all."
He explained that "the Kurdistan Democratic Party, since its establishment and until today, constitutes a major political and democratic force in Iraq," stressing that "the continuation of the party's strength is in the interest of all of Iraq."
He pointed out that "after the completion of the work of the conference, we will strongly participate with the rest of the Iraqi political forces within the new government to work for the interest of all Iraqis without distinguishing between its components."
He stressed that "the struggle of the immortal Mulla Mustafa Barzani and the Kurdistan Democratic Party after the July 14 revolution in 1958 was a major factor in the recognition by the State of Iraq of the partnership of Kurds and Arabs in the country."
And he added, "The March 11 agreement in 1970 also became the most important document by which the State of Iraq officially recognized the legitimate rights of the people of Kurdistan."
In another aspect of his speech, the President of the Kurdistan Region stressed that “the Kurdish issue is an important issue in the Middle East,” stressing that “the Kurdistan Democratic Party will make all its efforts to solve it.”
He pointed out that "the Kurdish people can benefit from the development and progress taking place in the world to address their cause by peaceful means and away from violence."
At the end of his speech, the President of the Region asked the Prime Minister, Masrour Barzani, to take the position of Vice President of the party alongside him, to provide a helping hand to President Barzani in managing the party.
He stressed that "Masrour Barzani was brought up by President Massoud and that he is a capable and highly qualified person," noting that "the political bureau of the party is a witness to his capabilities and the services he provided to Kurdistan."
