The Minister of Oil urges central refineries to raise refining capacity production to 500,000 barrels per day
Shafaq News/ The Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Minister of Oil, Hayan Abdul-Ghani, urged the central refineries to raise refining energy production to 500,000 barrels per day.
This came during his visit to the Midland Refineries Company, according to a statement issued today, Friday, by the Ministry of Oil.
During the visit, the minister said that the liquidation sector is among the priorities of our work and future plans, and it enjoys the attention and support of the Prime Minister.
The Minister of Oil discussed with the company's management plans to raise the refining capacity of the Midland Refineries Company to (500 thousand barrels) per day in the year 2026.
And he disclosed the current production of the Dora refinery, which amounts to (140 thousand) barrels per day, noting
To the Ministry of Oil's efforts to develop existing refineries, increase production from them, and reduce the import of petroleum products.
The minister also noted that the next few months will witness an increase in the production of petroleum products.
Abdul-Ghani directed the company's management to expedite a study to add new units to the "Samawa, Diwaniyah, and Najaf" refineries, aiming to achieve an increase in production and provide job opportunities for the people of the concerned governorates, stressing work in accordance with occupational safety requirements and maintaining environmental and public health standards.
For his part, General Manager of Al-Wasat Refineries Company, Aed Jaber, affirmed his company's commitment to the ministry's plans to develop and increase production in a way that achieves the goals and plans of the ministry.
It is noteworthy that the Central Refineries Company includes: (Dora Refinery, Karbala Refinery, Najaf Refinery, Samawah Refinery, Diwaniyah Refinery).
