Today, Wednesday, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, confirmed that some merchants resorted to raising prices under the pretext of the high exchange rate of the dollar, while he called on the security services to monitor the market and prevent some trade from monopolizing the local product.
The office of the First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives said in a statement, "The First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Mohsen al-Mandalawi, discussed in his office, with a number of major poultry producers, the reasons for the high prices of animal products, especially table eggs, in the local markets."
He added, "Al-Mandalawi listened to the obstacles facing the owners of productive projects."
Al-Mandalawi stressed that "some merchants resorted to raising prices under the pretext of the high exchange rate of the dollar, even though the products are (local) and (equipped) at fixed prices," calling on the relevant security services in the Ministry of Interior "to monitor the market and prevent the monopoly of some trade on the local product for the purpose of manipulating its prices." "
The First Deputy held a phone call with the Minister of Agriculture, Abbas Al-Alaywi, in which he stressed "the need for cooperation between the House of Representatives and the Ministry to provide the necessary facilities to restart stalled projects, and support production inputs from soy and corn," stressing "developing urgent solutions to increase the pace of production to meet the market need."
