    Baghdad today - Baghdad
Today, Wednesday, the legal committee in the Iraqi parliament confirmed that there is difficulty in legislating the oil and gas law, revealing that there is information that talks about selling part of the oil in advance to Turkey.
Committee member Salem Al-Anbaki told (Baghdad Today) that “the oil and gas law is one of the very important laws and there is a need to legislate it. There are old and new wells established by the Kurdistan region and contracted with foreign companies to work in them.
Al-Anbuge added, "The Kurdistan region always confirms that these wells belong to it and the federal government has no authority over them, in addition to the existence of problems regarding the pipeline."
He pointed out, "There is information that talks about selling part of the oil (extracted in Kurdistan) in advance to Turkey, and this is a point of contention between the Federal Ministry of Oil and the region, and for this reason there is difficulty in enacting this law."
Last Sunday, a Kurdish delegation representing the Kurdistan Regional Government visited the capital, Baghdad, to negotiate outstanding issues between the two parties, the most important of which are the oil and gas law and the region's share of the federal budget.
The delegation consisted of the KRG's Minister of Finance and Economy, Awat Janab Nuri, as the head of the delegation, as well as the Acting Minister of Electricity and Natural Resources, Kamal Muhammad.
