    Baghdad today - Basra 
    Today, Sunday, the Prime Minister, Muhammad Shia'a Al-Sudani, confirmed that the Basra Governorate will be given priority by implementing projects to combat desertification and stop pollution.
    Al-Sudani said, during the opening of the Iraq Climate Conference, that "Basra will give priority to implementing projects to combat desertification and stop pollution, and the Council of Ministers will follow up on the implementation of these projects with international cooperation."
    He added, "The climate conference is an actual start to work on improving it through studied and advanced plans to combat desertification, as well as the signing of a major agreement to prevent gas flaring in Basra to combat pollution."
    The Prime Minister indicated that "more than 7 million citizens have been affected by water scarcity."
    This morning, the Prime Minister, Muhammad al-Sudani, launched a major initiative to plant 5 million trees throughout Iraq
    And the Prime Minister's office stated, in a statement received by (Baghdad Today), that "Al-Sudani launched, during his arrival in Basra Governorate to attend the climate conference, a major initiative to plant 5 million trees and palm trees in all governorates of Iraq."
