    The Iraqi Association for Statistical Sciences, in cooperation with the Association of Iraqi Private Banks, under the auspices of the Prime Minister, held the Fourth International Scientific Conference on Statistical Applications on Environmental Changes to discuss the environmental reality in Iraq, in Basra Governorate.
    The representative of the Prime Minister, Governor of Basra, Asaad Al-Eidani, said in his speech during the conference, which I attended, "Al-Iqtisad News", "It is an honor for me to deputize for Prime Minister Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani, in such an important conference for Iraq.
    He expressed his "thanks to those in charge of the conference in the province of Basra," adding that "Basra has begun to follow the right path to advance the province first, and to be the bright face of a country like Iraq that carries a history, heritage and civilizations."
    He pointed out, "The reconstruction process that took place in Basra is moving in the right direction, and the correct census has been started and everything we need has been promoted according to scientific matters."
    He referred to "taking advantage of the conference and the experience of holding it in Basra," stressing that "in the coming years, the conference will expand with the efforts of those in charge of it and the presence of scholars from Iraq on the land of Basra."
    For his part, the head of the Iraqi Society for Statistical Sciences, and senior advisor to the United Nations Population Fund, Mahdi Al-Alaq, confirmed that "there is a diagnosis of a significant impact on agriculture and the increase in desert lands," noting that "this conference came as an extension of the climate conference amid the presentation of more than fifty papers to the concerned authorities to work for the purpose of advancing work to combat desertification and improve the environment.
    Al-Alaq added, "The Prime Minister directed the need to prepare the necessary research on combating desertification and improving the climate in Iraq."
    During the conference, the regional director of the Iraqi Private Banks Association, Muhammad Munther Al-Handal, spoke about the role of the Iraqi Private Banks Association, in partnership with the Central Bank, in developing and developing the banking sector, in a way that contributes to supporting the national economy and sustainable development, revitalizing the economic cycle and contributing to financing, as well as working with companies supporting the sector. Banking in the field of microfinance, guaranteeing deposits, loans and electronic payment to create an integrated business environment.
    He pointed out that the Association is working with government agencies to activate the decisions issued by the Council of Ministers with regard to encouraging and motivating banks to finance strategic projects. sensitive stage.
    Al-Handal noted that the acceleration of events in the world and the challenges that are emerging in our country, the most important of which is the unilateralism of the economy in terms of revenues, of which the oil sector constitutes the largest share, which leaves future shadows present if the sources of income are not remedied and diversified, and the local and agricultural industries are revitalized to fill the current deficit, which forces the country to import most products. This process must come in conjunction with facilities and reassurances for investors, which will prompt them to work on developing and diversifying their projects and providing job opportunities.
