A security source in Anbar province revealed, on Saturday, that the US forces approached Iraqi contractors to establish new sites for their forces inside the Ain Al-Assad Air Base building, west of Anbar.
The source said, in a statement to Al-Maalouma, that "the US forces stationed at Ain Al-Asad Air Base in Al-Baghdadi district in the Hit district, west of Anbar, approached Iraqi contractors to establish new sites for their forces inside the base building, in a new indication of a long-term US plan for the survival of its forces in that base."
The source added, "The US forces conducted, in an unannounced manner, dialogues with Iraqi contractors to start the construction of those sites, which are subject to unprecedented security measures by the US forces."
He pointed out that "the US forces surveyed the places near the base building to include it in its area amid a large muzzling of the steps of this procedure," noting that "the process of establishing new buildings for the US forces is not clear, and the real reasons behind taking this step that prompted the US forces to move forward are not known." In the project of establishing new buildings for its forces, however, sources suggested that this measure would be a long-term stay for the US forces at Ain Al-Assad Air Base, stressing that "the security leaders stationed at Ain Al-Assad Air Base do not have sufficient information about the reasons for the US forces' direction to establish these buildings."
It is noteworthy that the US forces impose unprecedented security measures on the building of the Ain Al-Asad Air Base, west of Anbar, for precautionary reasons, in anticipation of missile attacks.” End / 12A
