Today, Tuesday, the British "Argos Media" network revealed that the Turkish authorities rejected the agreement between the Baghdad government and the Kurdistan region of Iraq regarding the re-export of oil from the region to international markets through the Turkish port of Ceyhan, confirming the existence of "claims for guarantees" from Ankara.
A report by the British Network, translated by (Baghdad Today), said that an informed source from the Turkish government assured it that Ankara "refused" to reopen the Turkish port of Ceyhan to oil shipments coming from the Kurdistan region of Iraq, calling for "guarantees" from the Iraqi government about the court's decision. The international community punishes Turkey for exporting oil from the region without returning to the Baghdad government.
The report added, the source also confirmed that "Ankara asked Baghdad for a "high-level meeting" with the aim of discussing the export of oil from the region during the next stage, categorically refusing to return exports through its port despite the agreement between Baghdad and Erbil."
He pointed out that "oil exports from the region, which amount to 400 thousand barrels per day, have stopped since the twenty-fifth of last month until now as a result of Turkey's violation of the 1973 agreement that prevents it from exporting oil from the Kurdistan region of Iraq without obtaining direct approval from Baghdad, which led To a case before the International Court, according to which it imposed a fine on Ankara of one and a half billion dollars, payable to Baghdad.
