Today, Sunday, economic expert Majed Al-Suri revealed that successive governments in the country have not implemented about 4 strategic development plans to solve the country's economic problem, which have been put forward since 2004 until today.
Al-Suri said in his interview with "Al-Mutala'" agency, "Iraq has lost its economic identity and is still a rentier country that relies on the global market to export its oil without finding solutions to revive its economy and the problems it suffers from in this sector."
He added, "The state of pessimism about the future of Iraq's economy is realistic, as ignoring this matter has serious consequences for the country's future situation, and the political class ignores paying attention to this fact, and there is no implementation of laws and the constitution, with no path and roadmap for the advancement of the economy."
And between, "Since 2004 until today, 4 strategic development plans have been put forward for the Iraqi economy, none of which were implemented by successive governments, which caused a very heavy legacy that budgets cannot solve."
Al-Suri explained, "The financial budgets do not solve the problems that the country's economy suffers from, as the proportion of spending rises from one budget to another, and the increase in operating revenues at the expense of investment and the lack of development of the private sector."
