    Economy News - Baghdad
The Minister of Water Resources, Aoun Dhiab, announced today, Tuesday, that the water scarcity crisis has been overcome this summer, while detailing the measures taken by the ministry that contributed to overcoming the crisis, or to the recovery of the Chibaish marshes.
Dhiyab told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), followed by Al-Iqtisad News, that “any transgression cannot be accepted, whether it is in unlicensed fish lakes or water quotas,” stressing “the necessity of working and delivering service to citizens fairly.”
He pointed out that "the Ministry overcame the water scarcity crisis during the current harsh and hot summer with very low storage, but the great efforts that were made to address and overcome the crisis achieved a major and wonderful achievement at the large Tharthar station."
He pointed out that "Al-Tharthar station currently supplies the Euphrates River at a rate of 80 cubic meters per second, and the ministry supplies the Euphrates with 150 cubic meters per second from the Tigris River, and this quantity made the ministry able to deliver water to the furthest point of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers."
He continued, "The Chibayish Marshes are also somewhat refreshed despite the small amount of water, but its quality is good, and there is good work and high-level coordination with neighboring Iran regarding the continued opening of the Karun River, and currently the Shatt al-Arab is witnessing ideal conditions that it has never witnessed before," stressing that "throughout the summer Currently, the waters of the Shatt al-Arab were fresh.
Dhiab stressed that "coordination based on a high level of transparency, and common and mutual interests in a sound and calm scientific manner, led the ministry to very fruitful results and a state of relative stability in exchange for minimal damage that was also fairly distributed."
