The head of the Foreign Relations Department of the Kurdistan Regional Government confirmed that the United States, Britain and France are trying to solve the problem of exporting oil from the Kurdistan Region.
Safin Diziyi, head of the Foreign Relations Department of the Kurdistan Regional Government, said today, Sunday, during a speech he delivered at the Kurdish Diplomacy Week symposium at Saladin University, that “there are serious efforts to resume oil exports from the Kurdistan region.”
He added, "The United States, Britain, and France are trying to solve the oil export problem between Baghdad and Ankara."
He confirmed that the three countries are trying to re-export oil from the Kurdistan Region.
He continued: “Although Kurdistan has not exported oil for several months, it has opened a place for itself on the global energy map.”
He explained that “since March 25, 2023, Iraq has incurred financial losses of about 5.5 billion dollars, as a result of the suspension of Kurdistan oil exports due to the decision of the International Court of Arbitration in Paris.”
He pointed out that “there are about 30 consulates of different countries in Kurdistan, in addition to organizations and agencies affiliated with the United Nations, and this demonstrates the role and importance of Erbil as the security, political and economic capital of Kurdistan for the countries of the region.”
He stated that “Kurdistan’s economic diplomacy has been largely successful, and we now have representation in 14 countries, and we are taking steps to increase the number of our representations in countries around the world,” adding that “these steps come to convey the message of the people of Kurdistan to the world in political and economic terms, as well as the peaceful and common coexistence that exists.” In Kurdistan.
