Kurdistan bloc: Natural gas in the region is not enough for export
Shafaq News/ The Kurdistan Islamic Union bloc in the Kurdistan Parliament saw on Sunday that the natural gas produced by the region is not enough to be exported to the countries of the world.
The head of the bloc, Sherko Jawdat, said in an interview with reporters that he gave before the Parliament of Kurdistan today, that the studies and surveys conducted by the companies, including those of the British who were before everyone else in Iraq, showed that the natural gas in the region is not enough to be exported to other countries or the world, calling on the regional government. to review those studies.
This comes in conjunction with what Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, said on Saturday, that the legal problems between the region and the federal government stand in the way of the historical opportunity to export gas from Kurdistan to the countries of the world.
On Tuesday (February 15, 2022) the Federal Court issued a decision that the oil and gas law of the Kurdistan Regional Government was unconstitutional, with its obligation to hand over all oil production from oil fields in the region and other areas from which the Kurdistan Ministry of Natural Resources extracted oil and handed it over to the federal government represented by the Federal Ministry of Oil And enabling it to use its constitutional powers regarding oil exploration, extraction and export.
Talabani said yesterday from Greece: "It is true that Kurdistan is facing a historic opportunity to export gas, but first and foremost we need to solve our legal problems with Baghdad."
And the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, had said at the end of last March in a speech during his hosting of the World Summit of Governments in 2022 in the UAE, that the region can provide the entire world with energy, not only Europe, stressing the quest to develop the gas and oil sector.
