Archbishop of the Diocese of Mosul: The representatives arriving with the quota claim to represent us, but in reality they are persecuting us

The Archbishop of the Chaldean Diocese of Mosul and Akre, Mikhail Najib Mikhail, saw that the Christian representatives arriving in parliament with a quota do not represent Christians, but rather that they are “persecuting” Christians, calling for securing the Nineveh Plain and Mosul with a single security force.
Mikhail Najib Mikhail said, in a press statement: “We are very happy that there is a broad and comprehensive view of this crime (the wedding hall fire in Al-Hamdaniya) that occurred, whether it was an accident or a tragedy,” describing the incident as “similar to the Holocaust.”
Mikhail Naguib Mikhail criticized the investigative results that were announced after the fire occurred. “It came after a short period and came up with results that had nothing to do with this crime,” denouncing the cases of “dismissal and dismissal of figures, and what made us doubt was the speed and lack of seriousness in the investigation.”
He added: “We have confidence in the Iraqi judiciary, but there are international experts all over the world when a major tragedy or crime occurs, and there are certainly investigators and people who help each other to reach the truth,” adding: “I do not doubt the capabilities, but there is pressure and there is a kind of inducement.” And sometimes intimidation. Enticement with money or intimidation with political influence.”
The Archbishop of the Chaldean Diocese of Mosul and Aqra called for “internationalizing the incident, so that we can reach the rights of the region and the demographic changes hidden behind it and the weapons unleashed by forces we do not know where they came from.”
Mikhail Najib Mikhail called for “securing the Nineveh Plain and Mosul with a single security force.” “It is not permissible for us to see a new color of clothing and a new weapon every day, because it is unacceptable and spreads terror,” demanding that “there be a force that protects the land, other than the force of unruly weapons.”
Regarding the role of Christian representatives in the Iraqi Parliament in making their voices heard, the Chaldean Archbishop of the Diocese of Mosul and Aqra described the quota and quotas as “destroying Iraq.” Those who have reached the quota seats for Christians claim that they represent us, but in reality they are persecuting us.”
He stressed that “they must stand hand in hand in order to achieve what we need in the region, in terms of security, jobs, and the protection of freedoms,” explaining that “whoever reaches Parliament must be with the votes of Christians, and not with other voices.”
He pointed out that “Christians began to be called a minority. We were not a minority, but we became a minority. We constituted more than 60% of the Nineveh Plain in the middle of the eighteenth century, but today we have become a minority.”
On September 30, the Iraqi Council of Representatives recommended the formation of two judicial and parliamentary committees in order to investigate the merits of the Al-Haytham Hall fire in Al-Hamdaniya district, as well as compensating the victims’ families financially and morally and treating the injured inside or outside Iraq.
On October 1, the Iraqi Ministry of Interior attributed the cause of the fire at Al-Haytham Hall in Al-Hamdaniya to a fire source that came into contact with highly flammable materials, noting “the presence of four pyrotechnic devices.”
According to what the committee and eyewitnesses concluded, it was the main cause of the accident, and the flames rose from it to four meters towards the ceiling of the hall, causing the fire to break out.
It is noteworthy that the Hammurabi coalition had called on its fans to participate in all gatherings and initiatives that would support the demands of the church and reveal the circumstances of the Holocaust and the massacre to which the people of Baghdida (Hamdaniya) were subjected, and for the corrupt and negligent to be exposed and held legally accountable.
