    Today, Thursday (May 9, 2024), Parliamentary Order Committee 160 revealed its research on “legal ports and gates” to implement legal procedures regarding suspicious files in the port administration.
    The head of the committee, Representative Yasser Al-Husseini, said in an interview with “Baghdad Today” that “in recent days, his committee has made a long series of important observations about the work of the Iraqi Ports Company, including the General Director’s race to conclude contracts with amazing speed without any legal justifications and no economic feasibility, which indicates "Being alone in your opinion is as if there are no oversight bodies in the country."
    He added, "The Diwani Order Committee is continuing to implement the goals for which it was formed in documenting and identifying all violations in Iraqi ports," noting that "yesterday, the committee held a lengthy meeting with the President of the Federal Court, and a series of important matters were reviewed and a road map was drawn up for Explaining the points and signals that the committee has and what are the legal gates and outlets through which the application of judicial procedures can proceed.”
    He pointed out that "our concern for public money and stopping violations and violations in Iraqi ports prompts us to continue implementing all procedures and strive to identify and document all administrative and financial violations and present them to the judiciary as soon as possible."
    In mid-April, Parliamentary Order Committee 160 was formed to investigate port management files, and the committee hosted the port director, Farhan Al-Fartusi, after parliamentary accusations as well as reports from the Financial Supervision Bureau about violations and suspicions in the contracts concluded by the port director, especially with regard to the port. FAO and exposing the company to losses by paying fines to certain companies from state funds and other violations.
