In conjunction with the popular and official campaign taking place in the country to support the Palestinian brothers in the face of the barbaric, criminal aggression committed by the Hebrew state, Iraq intensified its efforts at the diplomatic level - at its highest levels - to stop the massacre committed by the occupation forces against civilians in the Gaza Strip, at a time when Arab justice ministers expressed In their meeting held in Baghdad yesterday, Monday, they expressed their solidarity with the Palestinian cause, and their rejection of the continuation of the violations, aggression, and siege imposed on the Gaza Strip.
The spokesman for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Major General Yahya Rasoul, said: “Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani is continuing his efforts in discussions with presidents and leaders of countries in order to end the Zionist aggression against the Palestinian people.”
He added, "Iraq is working on several axes, including diplomatic efforts through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as parliamentary committees, popular events, and demonstrations," and pointed out that "the government is able to send aid without opening the doors for donations to citizens; however, the step came for the sake of popular support for the issue."
Meanwhile, Minister of Justice Khaled Shawani, who chaired the 39th session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Justice, which was held yesterday, Monday, in Baghdad, said: “The work of the session touched on many Arab agreements to combat terrorism and financial corruption, prosecute the corrupt, and enhance cooperation between Arab countries to unify Arab legislation in various fields.
He added, "The current session registered its solidarity with the Palestinian people, and called on the Arab justice ministers to stop the attacks on civilians in the Gaza Strip, lift the siege, deliver aid, and end the aggression."
For his part, the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, called for an immediate halt to military operations in the Gaza Strip and the opening of safe corridors for the residents of the Strip. Jamal Rushdi, the official spokesman for the Secretary-General, delivered a speech by Aboul Gheit at the opening of the thirty-ninth session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Justice in Baghdad.
Rushdi quoted Aboul Gheit as saying: “This massacre committed in Gaza will not only remain a disgrace that haunts Israel, but also a curse on the international community and the global conscience, which is silent at a time when silence becomes a crime.”
In addition, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Muhammad Al-Halbousi, received, yesterday, Monday, the President of the Palestinian National Council, Rawhi Fattouh, and his accompanying delegation.
Al-Halbousi stressed that the Iraqi position on the issue of Palestine is one position of the people, parliament, and government, and our position is firm and will not change in establishing an independent Palestinian state with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
In the context of diplomatic efforts, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fouad Hussein received, yesterday, Monday, the European Union Ambassador to Iraq, Thomas Seiler, and the Foreign Minister called on the European Union and European governments to “take a clear position against the siege imposed on Gaza and help open the Rafah crossing to send support.” humanitarian aid to the region, and to stand clearly against the policy of deporting the people of Gaza to Sinai in the Arab Republic of Egypt.”
Head of the State of Law Coalition, Nouri al-Maliki, called for “the necessity of bringing food and relief aid into the Gaza Strip, and ending the siege imposed by Israel on the Palestinian people.” He also called, during his meeting with the European Union Ambassador to Iraq, Thomas Seiler, for the importance of the European Union countries having a position and a role. In reducing the escalation taking place inside the Palestinian territories and condemning the massacres committed by Israel against the Palestinian people.
