    {Local: Al-Furat News} The Ministry of Water Resources is implementing a strategic project to benefit from wastewater in watering various crops and crops after recycling it, within Baghdad and the governorates.
    Minister Aoun Dhiyab Abdullah said, in a press statement, “The Prime Minister directed the necessity of making use of treated wastewater to water various types of crops and crops, in addition to delivering it to some projects at the ends of rivers due to the difficulty of delivering water to them, and within a project that will be implemented in Baghdad and the governorates and within the plan’s allocations.” Investment of the Ministry."
    He added that his ministry is currently in the process of benefiting from treated wastewater and transporting it through pipes or open channels and delivering it to crop growing areas, instead of throwing it into rivers without benefiting from it," pointing to "the contribution of the project, which will be implemented with very high financial allocations, in raising The level of services provided to citizens and the improvement of the environmental and service reality, as it is one of the environmentally friendly projects.”
    Abdullah noted that the wastewater treatment project is being implemented in three directions, as the Baghdad Municipality is responsible for projects to purify the capital’s sewage water, while the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Public Municipalities is concerned with purification projects. Governorate sewers, and experiments have already been carried out within Basra, Maysan, and Dhi Qar, in addition to the districts and districts of some governorates.
    He explained that the wastewater treatment project in the holy city of Karbala is considered one of the pioneering projects in this field, as the quantities of treated water reached two cubic meters per second, and an agreement was reached. With the Holy Abbasid Shrine to withdraw a quantity of it to irrigate the green belt, which is 100 meters wide. The Holy Imam Hussain Shrine also intends to create a new green belt 1000 meters wide, in addition to contributing to the removal of pollutants from Lake Razaza by recycling the water in it and using it in agriculture.
