, today, Tuesday, the Ministry of Agriculture clarified the most prominent contents of the winter plan and the means of support provided to farmers, while confirming the issuance of decisions by the Council of Ministers to make it a success.
Advisor to the Ministry of Agriculture, Mahdi Al-Qaisi, said, “The Ministry focused, in its agricultural plan for the winter season, on using modern irrigation methods, especially sprinkler irrigation systems.”
Al-Qaisi added, "The Prime Minister directed the need to adhere to the timings and begin implementing the plan on the first of October, and the ministry has adhered to these directives."
He explained, "One of the Ministry's most important achievements is that the plan was approved early, as the Ministry distributed 70% subsidized seeds."
He stressed, “Among the decisions taken by the Council of Ministers in support of the plan is to allocate funds for fertilizer for the agricultural plan, and transfer them to sprinkler irrigation systems to help the farmer acquire these systems,” in addition to that, “The Ministry has a modern irrigation canal project, and this project includes allocations that will provide Modern irrigation systems.
Al-Qaisi continued, “The Ministry of Agriculture has cooperation with a foreign company in order to purchase sprinkler irrigation systems, and there is also cooperation with the Ministry of Industry in this regard.”
He explained, "These systems will provide the possibility of cultivating large areas and help increase the quality of crops, including wheat, so that production will be better, in addition to reducing the amount of water, to give the opportunity to expand the areas."
Al-Qaisi pointed out, “The winter plan (2023/2024) included approving the cultivation of 4 million dunums of wheat crop, using wells and sprinkler irrigation systems, which could provide larger areas, and we aspire for production to be higher than 4 million dunums in the future.”
