Emerging movements compete with traditional parties in local elections

Emerging parties and movements are looking forward to having a stake in the upcoming elections for governorate councils in an attempt to prove their presence to parties that have a long political history.
The head of the Extension Movement, Haider Al-Salami, said in an interview with “Al-Sabah”: We are witnessing different electoral campaigns from one party to another, and it is necessary to acknowledge the presence of political money and the exploitation of government positions in some campaigns, noting that the emerging movements have a challenge in order to prove their presence against the larger parties. Including political life.
He expected the emerging movements to have a small share in the provincial councils, which is not an expression of frustration as much as it is a message directing voters to go to the polls en masse to deepen the experience of the previous parliamentary elections in which the emerging movements obtained a good number of seats in the House of Representatives.
For his part, legal expert Amir Al-Daami indicated in an interview with Al-Sabah that some political parties expressed skepticism about the elections, their feasibility, and their ability to bring about change, indicating that it is a usual matter that cannot be jumped on because some parties of the political class do not believe in the integrity of the elections.
Al-Daami added that the elections will be held in the middle of next month and the term of the Council of Commissioners is the end of next month, wondering what legal and constitutional cover will enable the current Council to continue its work after the results emerge and the objections and appeals that will inevitably arise?
He explained that appeals and objections require a significant amount of time to be considered before the final results are announced, which may exceed the legal duration of the current Council’s term.
On the same level, political expert Haider Al-Moussawi explained to “Al-Sabah” that the Federal Court’s decision to oblige the Commission to carry out the manual counting and sorting process and to announce it is something different this time, and in the end both electronic and manual counting will be adopted, stressing that some of the matters that affected the previous elections, the Commission has taken many measures to prevent Repeating it, expecting violations in some polling centers or influence on voters, but on the technical level there will not be a major problem as happened in the previous parliamentary elections.
