    Baghdad today - Baghdad
The Secretary-General of the National Affiliation Party, Hikmat Suleiman , confirmed today, Thursday (November 23), that the failure to elect a Speaker of the House of Representatives in yesterday’s session was under pressure from “Muhammad Al-Halbousi,” which led to a parliamentary tendency for the next Speaker of the House to be from outside the Taqadum Party.
Suleiman said in an interview with "Baghdad Today", "The adjournment of the session to elect the Speaker of the House of Representatives yesterday was done through pressure from the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Muhammad Al-Halbousi, through his coalition representatives and allies within the House, despite the fact that the parliamentary regulations and instructions impose the election of a new president and the proceeding with other schedules." He considered what happened “a violation of those instructions and a clear violation.”
He added, “Postponing the election of the Speaker of the House of Representatives created parliamentary resentment and a tendency for the candidate for the position to be from outside the circle of the Taqadum Party,” noting that “there are  three candidates from outside Taqadum, but the competition is limited to only two, and any of them may be chosen, but The matter remains subject to variables that will be decided in the final hours before the next election session, which has not been determined yet.”
Yesterday, Wednesday, the House of Representatives postponed the election of the Speaker of the House, which fell vacant after the Federal Court’s decision to withdraw the membership of Muhammad Rikan Al-Halbousi for “breaking his oath” following former MP Laith Al-Dulaimi’s call against him.
