    The Federal Integrity Commission announced, on Saturday, the arrest of an inspector at the General Tax Authority red-handed in committing the crime of bribery in exchange for completing a transaction for a citizen.
    According to a statement seen by Al-Eqtisad News, the Commission’s Government Media and Communications Office stated, “The Commission’s Investigation Directorate in Baghdad formed a work team from its Investigation and Control Department after receiving information in a citizen’s complaint that one of the investigators requested a sum of money from him in exchange for facilitating and completing a transaction.” It has the General Authority for Taxes - Parties Tax Branch.”
    He added, "The work team began investigating and verifying the accuracy of the information, and after obtaining the decision of the judge of the Second Karkh Investigation Court, the team quickly set up an elaborate ambush for the complainant inside the headquarters of the Parties Tax Branch, where he was caught red-handed in receiving the bribe amount."
    He explained, "The team searched the accused and seized in his possession, in addition to the bribe amount, more than half a million dinars, as he admitted that he obtained that amount as a result of the investigation work that he carried out illegally for the benefit of citizens visiting the department."
    The statement continued, "A formal arrest report was prepared for the operation, which was implemented in accordance with the provisions of Resolution (160 of 1983), to present it, along with the accused and the exhibits, to the competent investigating judge to determine his fate."
