    Economy News - Baghdad

[rtl]Today, Sunday, the Minister of Construction and Housing, Benkin Rikani, identified the main problem guiding his ministry in the issue of building housing units. While he confirmed that real estate prices in Baghdad had begun to decline, he referred to the New Sadr City project.[/rtl]

[rtl]Rikani said, in a televised interview followed by “Al-Iqtisad News,” that “real estate prices in the capital, Baghdad, have begun to decrease than before,” pointing out that “there has been a good change from a month ago until now, as a result of citizens’ knowledge of the sincerity of the government’s plans regarding the issue of providing housing.”[/rtl]

[rtl]He added, "The large supply will lead to lower prices," noting that "the problem we face is the lack of government imports, which pushes us to build housing units for people with limited income."[/rtl]

[rtl]The Minister of Construction explained, "The new policy produced by the government is to obtain percentages of these units, free of charge, and distribute them to citizens and individuals who cannot afford housing units."[/rtl]

[rtl]He pointed out, "The discussion with the Central Bank of Iraq, regarding the financing file, is continuing, in addition to other donors," stressing that "the new Sadr City project is fully embraced by the government."[/rtl]
