Baghdad: Jinan Al-Asadi

The Directorate of Tribal Affairs in the Ministry of Interior launched a program to involve tribal sheikhs in the issue of (controlling weapons in the hands of the state) in all governorates.
Director of Tribal Affairs, Brigadier General Salman Abdullah Al-Hassani, told “Al-Sabah”: “The file of confiscating weapons in the hands of the state” is one of the most important files of the ministry and the current government, as the directorate has begun launching an intensive program to support this file through continuous meetings and the involvement of tribal sheikhs to urge members of their tribes to Accelerating the registration of weapons, pointing to holding conferences in the governorates of Diwaniyah, Najaf, and Basra to support this project and explaining the mechanism for filling out the electronic form on the official (UR) portal for registration. He pointed out that these measures aim to achieve societal peace and reduce rampant weapons, stressing the important role of tribal sheikhs in supporting the aforementioned file and a number of other files such as combating the drug scourge, so 25 meetings were held with them during the past month, which resulted in a significant decrease It exceeded 50 percent regarding conflicts between clans.
