    Today, Fly Baghdad Company issued an explanatory statement to public opinion regarding the decision of the committee formed by the Iraqi government to investigate American allegations about the company’s dealings with Iran.
    The company explained in its statement that the US Treasury’s decision issued on January 22, 2024 was accompanied by a letter allowing the company to deal normally until March 22, 2024, including the continuation of its bank transfers to ensure the safe operation of its operations. However, the Iraqi government, represented by the Central Bank of Iraq, froze the accounts. The company failed to facilitate any bank transfers, which paralyzed the company's activity by 80%.
    The company pointed out that most destinations exclusively require official bank transfers to receive their fares, which forced it to stop most of its destinations and limit itself to those that can deal in cash.
    The company confirmed that, as of today, February 13, 2024, no statement has been issued by a government official presenting the results of the investigation.
    She added that the suspension decision was understood by other countries to be in support of the report and decision of the US Treasury, and it canceled landing approvals (including but not limited to Saudi airports) that were scheduled for more than 400 flights during the second month, which in turn led to great confusion for the Iraqi pilgrims and caused Huge losses for them and for the company, and as a result of the Iraqi government’s decision to stop the operations of Fly Baghdad Company and begin investigating it and not issuing an official statement of the results, all companies selling their aircraft to Fly Baghdad companies decided on an installment system (lease with the intention of purchasing) to cancel all contracts and sources of assets of Fly Baghdad Company (its aircraft). With the money received in its favor, which made the company lose 8 aircraft from its fleet at once and suddenly, and remain on the company’s owned aircraft, which number 4 aircraft, which does not cover the previous table.
    The company concluded its statement by appealing to Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani to continue to support the company publicly, lift the injustice against it, facilitate its banking procedures normally, and continue to demand from the American side any tangible evidence of the company’s violations, if any.
    These developments are considered a major challenge for Fly Baghdad, especially with the freezing of its accounts and the suspension of its flights to many international destinations.
