The meeting discussed "strengthening cooperation in this framework to confront the common challenges that have become a threat to the societies of the region, as this scourge has become one of the most prominent problems that threaten societal peace." He also discussed enhancing areas of security cooperation to ensure the achievement of the highest national interests in the countries of the region.
The meeting was attended by Jordanian Interior Minister Mazen Al-Faraya, and his Iraqi counterparts, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, Syrian Muhammad Khaled Al-Rahmoun, and Lebanese Bassam Mawlawi.
In addition, Jordanian Interior Minister Mazen Al-Faraya said that a joint communication cell has been established with Iraq, Syria and Lebanon, which includes liaison officers to follow up information and track shipments until their final destination to confront the drug scourge.
Al-Faraiah added, in press statements at a meeting held in Amman attended by the Ministers of the Interior: the Iraqi Abdul Amir al-Shammari, the Syrian Muhammad Khaled al-Rahmoun, and the Lebanese Bassam Mawlawi, that the communication cell is concerned with exchanging experiences, training and capabilities, following up on information, whether previous or subsequent, and controlled delivery, which is tracking shipments leaving countries to their destination. He stressed that the ministers agreed that there is a major problem, which is the drug problem, and that all societies suffer from this problem, indicating that countries are working at the national level to deal with this phenomenon.
