the leader of the Al-Hikma Movement, Ahmed Al-Issawi, confirmed that part of the representatives of the coordination framework in Parliament are insisting that the presidential candidate be from the Taqaddam Party.
Al-Issawi said, in a televised interview followed by Mawazine News, that “disagreements over the presidency of Parliament cannot be resolved except by consensus between the Sunni political blocs, pointing out that the decision of the presidency of Parliament will be within just a week.”
He added, "The coordination framework will vote for the candidate who wins the Sunni votes to win the position of Speaker of the House of Representatives."
He pointed out that "Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani proposed himself for the presidency of the House of Representatives," noting that "the head of the State of Law coalition, Nouri Al-Maliki, told him that he would support him."
