The General Company for Central Markets, affiliated with the Ministry of Commerce, announced on Tuesday the date of opening three central markets in the capital, Baghdad, while confirming that it is moving towards transferring all of its locations spread throughout the governorates of Iraq to investment.
The company’s general manager, Zahra Al-Kilani, said in a statement provided to the Iraqi News Agency and seen by Al-Iqtisad News, that “the first half of the current year 2024 will witness the opening of three central markets in the capital, Baghdad, which are Al-Amel Market, Al-Salhiya Market on the Karkh side, and the Al-Amel Market. The central people are on the Rusafa side.”
She noted, "The company continues to refer its sites for investment throughout Iraq, including the Kirkuk Central Market, a plot of land in Nineveh Governorate, and the Al-Najaf Al-Ashraf Market."
She added, "The company is in the process of opening marketing exhibitions, including the marketing exhibition that will open in the central Khanaqin market and a marketing exhibition in (east of Shifta) at the level of Diyala Governorate. There is also a project to open the Iraqi duty free market in the company's branch in Babil Governorate."
Regarding investments, Al-Kilani explained, “Business is still continuing in Al-Mansour Central Market and Al-Zubair Central Market, in accordance with Investment Law No. 13 of 2006,” stressing, “The company continues to refer all its sites and markets for investment in order to achieve economic balance and support the Iraqi consumer.” ".
