    A statement from the Media Department of the House of Representatives, received by Alsumaria News, stated, “The Finance Committee, headed by Atwan Al-Atwani and in the presence of its members and a number of members of other parliamentary committees, hosted today, Wednesday, 3/13/2024, the Minister of Finance, Taif Sami, the Director General of the Customs Authority, and the Director General of the General Authority for Taxes.” To discuss the automation of the financial system for taxes and customs duties.



    The Chairman of the Committee stressed "the necessity of accelerating the automation of the financial system, pointing out that the Committee supports the trend towards implementing it and working to maximize non-oil revenues in coordination with the executive authorities in order to diversify revenues."

    The committee discussed "the financial and banking system and the emphasis on automating the system and exchanging data between the Customs Authority and other institutions, in addition to the procedures and formula used in data auditing and electronic payment (pos), in addition to discussing the tax exemption file, as the committee requested that it be provided with tables for tax exemptions."

    The members' interventions focused "on the extent of implementation of the provisions of the federal general budget, revenues and final accounts, as well as the necessity of implementing the provisions contained in the budget with regard to collections and taxes, with the importance of knowing the customs duties achieved and expected revenues, in addition to the mechanism for collecting deposits and crossing employee data."

    The committee stressed "the need to expedite sending the schedules of the Federal Budget Law for the year 2024, in order to read and vote on them within the House of Representatives."

    For her part, the Minister of Finance explained, “Completing the data related to the 2024 schedules, including the texts, and sending them to the Council of Ministers, while she provided an explanation of the ministry’s work mechanism.”

    Regarding the automation of the system, the Director General of the General Authority of Customs, Hassan Al-Ugaili, pointed out, “Initiating work on the electronic system with a focus on the centers with the highest revenues in order to supplement the budget and maximize resources,” while the Director General of the Tax Authority touched on tax revenues and the percentages received from collection, in addition to the problems and obstacles. facing the Authority.
