Today, Saturday (March 23, 2024), Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani confirmed that the government is proceeding with the approach of localizing the pharmaceutical industry in Iraq during his meeting with the Head of the Iraqi Pharmacists Syndicate, Haider Fouad Al-Sayegh.
The Prime Minister’s Media Office said in a statement, received by “Baghdad Today,” that “Al-Sudani received Al-Sayegh and his accompanying delegation, and listened to a detailed review of the reality of pharmaceutical work in Iraq, the pharmaceutical services provided in the health care sector, and the union’s role in harnessing the energies of Scientific youth in this field, and plans prepared for development.”
During the meeting, Al-Sudani pointed out that “the government is proceeding with the approach of localizing the pharmaceutical industry in Iraq, as several measures have been taken and the necessary facilities have been provided to support investors and companies specialized in the pharmaceutical industry. These steps are derived from the objectives of the government program in improving the health sector in general, including the pharmaceutical industry.” ", according to the statement.
According to the statement, the Prime Minister directed to “follow up on requests submitted regarding the allocation of lands to establish industrial cities for pharmaceutical industries in Iraq to localize the pharmaceutical industry, establish residential complexes for pharmacists, and build headquarters for the representatives of the Pharmacists Syndicate in the governorates, as well as follow up on the establishment of a private bank to invest and finance various pharmaceutical projects.” ".
