The Prime Minister discusses with Guterres the post-UNAMI phase

: Prime Minister Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani discussed with the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, yesterday, Sunday, the timing of ending the work of the UNAMI mission.
The Prime Minister’s Media Office stated in a statement that Al-Sudani received a phone call from the Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, indicating that “during which they discussed the relationship between Iraq and the international organization, and aspects of cooperation in various fields and programmes, especially those related to confronting climate challenges and reducing climate change.” Its impacts, water promotion and management tasks.”
He added, "The call touched on Iraq's message regarding the timings of ending the work of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq/UNAMI, the timings of reducing the levels of personnel in the mission, and ways of bilateral coordination in this path."

The phone call discussed the situation in Gaza, and the consequences of the continued aggression against defenseless civilians facing the crime of genocide, where the Prime Minister reiterated to the Secretary-General “the necessity for the major powers and international organizations to carry out their humanitarian, moral and legal duty to stop the aggression, protect our Palestinian people and guarantee their historical rights.”
Earlier yesterday, the Prime Minister received the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq, Jeanine Plasschaert, on the occasion of the end of her work duties.
During the meeting, he expressed the government's appreciation to Plasschaert for her efforts throughout her work in Iraq, indicating that "the request to end the work of the (UNAMI) mission comes based on the political and security stability that Iraq is witnessing, and the progress it has achieved in several areas."
He pointed out, "The Iraqi government continues to cooperate with international agencies affiliated with the United Nations, in accordance with the government program and its development goals at all levels and fields, especially with the progress achieved in the areas of economic reform and infrastructure reconstruction, and the growing capabilities of our armed forces of all types."
For her part, Plasschaert renewed her "praise for the important steps and promising initiatives presented by Iraq during the last eighteen months, especially in the areas of service provision, infrastructure reconstruction, investment, plans to mitigate environmental impacts, and reduce dependence on imported fuel."
On the other hand, Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani received the Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to Iraq, Hamid bin Ahmed Aidaroos, on the occasion of the end of his work duties.
Al-Sudani appreciated, according to a statement from his office, “the efforts made by the Omani ambassador during his tenure in Iraq,” expressing his “wishes for success in his future duties.”
He stressed "the importance of bilateral relations between the two countries, and the government's aspiration towards consolidating and developing joint cooperation at various levels," noting "the importance of coordinating efforts to confront the challenges in the region as a result of the continued aggression against Gaza and the expansion of the conflict, which has been reflected in the security and stability of the region." For his part, Aidaroos expressed his "appreciation for the extent of the cooperation he received during his work in Iraq," stressing "his country's government's keenness to strengthen bilateral relations and raise the level of cooperation in several fields, in order to achieve the interests of the two countries and the prosperity of their people."
On the other hand, the Prime Minister chaired the third session of the Supreme Committee for Coordination between the governorates not organized into a region.
