Great preparations for the opening of the tourist city of Ur

Preparations are underway in Dhi Qar Governorate in full swing for the opening of one of the most important cultural projects in the country represented by the tourist city of Ur, which was established on an area of 900 dunums and includes places of worship, libraries and theatres. The celebration is expected to receive great government attention and stars of culture and art will participate in it. In the community.
The head of the Dhi Qar Reconstruction Fund, Muhammad al-Zaidi, told “Al-Sabah”: We are planning to hold a large official and popular ceremony to celebrate this important cultural event that was accomplished by the Fund and was sponsored by the Prime Minister, Engineer Muhammad Shiaa al-Sudani, and the Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers, Dr. Hamid Al-Ghazi.
He explained that the tourist city of Ur will be an architectural and creative icon worthy of the governorate’s heritage and historical depth. It will express the spirit of authenticity and the fragrant history of Sumer. It will also be a shining link for civilizational and cultural communication between creative people in Iraq and abroad.
Al-Zaidi stressed that Sumerian thought imposed its style on the process of developing the archaeological city in all its many facilities, including the theatre, the museum, and the center for interfaith dialogue, as the design ideas for these buildings were inspired by the tall temple buildings of the early Sumerian era, which is considered the first historical root of tall buildings in Mesopotamia.
Al-Zaidi pledged that interest in the tourist city of Ur will not stop, and work will be done to complete a group of projects complementary to it, especially the tram that connects it to the marshes and the city center, stressing that the city will turn into a torch of cultural activities at the level of the governorate and the country, in addition to the global interest that we sense through Visits organized by social, cultural and religious events abroad.
