    [rtl]Baghdad - Iraq Today:

Minister of Water Resources, Aoun Dhiab, confirmed that the water reserves available in Iraq are sufficient for the summer season, while indicating that the Basra Water Project will provide fresh water for the people of the governorate.

Dhiyab told a media group, during his inspection of the Basra Pipe Water Project, that the Basra Pipe Water Project is one of the important and strategic projects implemented by the Ministry in the governorate in order to sustain the delivery of fresh water in good quantity and quality to Basra Governorate, similar to the rest of the governorates.

He continued, “The project is being implemented.” By converting the critical part of it from an open to a closed canal, with a length of 55 km, using pipes with a diameter of 2 m and a distance of 45 km, and 10 km using the concrete lining technique to reduce water losses, limits violations of the canal, and ensure the delivery of a fixed water share to Basra Governorate.

Dhiyab pointed out that “work is being implemented.” “ By the Ministry’s companies (Iraq, Al-Rafidain, Al-Faw) and under the supervision of the General Authority for Irrigation and Reclamation Projects,” directing the staff of the Water Resources Directorate and the Basra Water Project, which is affiliated with the General Authority for Operating Irrigation and Drainage Projects, to “follow up and remove violations of their various types and forms on the public estuary column.”[/rtl]
