    The Ministry of Water Resources announced on Tuesday that there is more than 8 billion cubic meters of water reserves in Iraq, while confirming the provision of water for weaning irrigation of the four million acres that fall within the current agricultural season, expected to codify the agricultural plan for next year.
     
    "The current phase is witnessing some water stability amid the proven water levels and will not be reversed," ministry adviser Zafer Abdullah said in a press statement.
     
    He added that "the recent rains secured drinking water for the next season and the amount of water weaning last before the harvest for more than four million acres within the agricultural plan," adding that "What raises concerns is to bypass some farmers and areas on the water quotas of other regions."
     
    "It is expected that the agricultural plan for the next winter season will be rationed if water remains," he said, pointing out that "more than 8 billion cubic meters of water reserves in Iraq."
