    Baghdad today - Baghdad
The political analyst and professor of media at Al-Mustansiriya University, Ghaleb Al-Daami, confirmed today, Sunday (June 23, 2024), that Iraq is politically and security-wise qualified to receive the leaders of the Gulf states, while there is difficulty in achieving a balance between the regional and global axes.
Al-Daami told “Baghdad Today” that “Iraq is qualified politically and security-wise to receive the leaders of the Gulf states, especially since Iraq has witnessed various visits, including the visit of the Turkish president, who has not visited Iraq for many years, as well as the visit of the Emir of Qatar to Baghdad during the Sudanese government, and Iraq He visited many countries in the region and the world.”
He stated, "The talk about the absence of important visits by senior officials from different countries is not true. Rather, there are multiple visits that are important visits for Iraq, and during this period there are no visits, perhaps due to weather conditions or the lack of a specific event that calls for such visits in the current period."
The professor of media at Al-Mustansiriya University added, “Iraq seeks to achieve balance, and this is very difficult in achieving a balance between the Iranian axis and those behind it and what it wants and between the American axis and those behind it. This is why Iraq’s position is very sensitive, and it seeks and works to achieve balance, but there is a certain division.” "Among all the political parties as well as the factions regarding Iraq's position on these axes, but despite all that, there was good diplomatic movement for Iraq."
On Thursday (May 16, 2024), the Prime Minister, Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, welcomed the decision to host the Arab League meeting at the summit level in Iraq during the next year.
Al-Sudani said in a statement from his office, received by “Baghdad Today,” that, “In the name of the Republic of Iraq, the government and the people, we express our sincere welcome to the Arab League’s decision to accept our request at the Riyadh Summit to host the Arab League meeting at the summit level, at its thirty-fourth regular session, and under the presidency of Iraq. In Baghdad during the year 2025, just as we extend our thanks and appreciation to the brothers in the Syrian Arab Republic who abdicated the presidency of the next session in favor of Iraq.
He added, "The arrival of our brothers, kings, presidents, leaders, and heads of fraternal Arab delegations, once again, as guests in Baghdad of history and civilization, is a continuation of our country's approach to integration with the Arab environment, and a continuation of presenting Iraq to its historical and pivotal role, a pillar of peace, brotherhood, and stability, and a land for convergence to take root." It is based on joint Arab action, development opportunities flourish, and future visions for development and confronting challenges are formulated.”
Al-Sudani continued, “Iraq, with its known principled stances and Arab-Islamic approach supportive of the nation’s issues, will work to facilitate all means and mobilize all efforts to make the Baghdad Summit/2025 a success, and to ensure that its meetings, decisions, and outcomes constitute a positive transition and a step forward in meeting the requirements of our Arab peoples.” "At a dangerous stage in its career and existence."
He concluded his statement by saying, "Baghdad will be an incubator for our brothers on the path to supporting the issues of our peoples, and a tent for partnership and work for sustainable development and stability that guarantees the future."
