The Ministry of Interior reported, on Tuesday, the arrest of a defendant for conducting foreign currency speculation in Baghdad.
The ministry said in a statement, seen by Al-Eqtisad News, that “detachments of the 3rd Rusafa Baghdad Emergency Regiment, in cooperation with other security services, arrested an accused for carrying out speculation operations in foreign currency.”
She explained that “an elaborate ambush was set up for him within the Al-Sinak area, he was arrested red-handed, and sums of money were seized in his possession,” noting that “he was handed over to the legally competent authorities.”
